Eporro.com and Hibbett Sports Announce First Ever Pro-Style Combines

By Eric SanInocencio, Director of Public Relations
6/11/2009

Birmingham, Ala. -- For the first time ever, Eporro.com and Hibbett Sports, in conjunction with Ultimate Performance Inc., will provide a pro-style combine for football athletes on July 10th/17th  and July 11th/18th at Oak Mountain High School in Birmingham, Ala.

The elite seminar consists of two separate training sessions covering a two-week span, with a production and video crew on hand to chronicle and upload every player’s workout.

First, Eporro.com and experts from Ultimate Performance will spend an entire calendar event training athletes in pro-style combine techniques and testing drills. Drills featured will be the 40-yard dash, vertical leap and various cone and agility drills.

Combine instructors will include former NFL and Alabama stars Antonio Langham, Santonio Beard, Matt Caddell and Dre Fulgham along with heralded speed teacher Chris Goode. Former NFL and National Championship quarterback Jay Barker has fully endorsed the combine, and Super Bowl Champion Bart Starr will speak to participants during the weekend’s events.

On the second date, athletes will be tested and evaluated on the previous session’s drills, while building a state of the art profile on Eporro.com to promote themselves to college coaches.

“This is a great opportunity for athletes to get top of the line training and use that to promote themselves to college coaches,” said Eporro.com President Jim Cavale. “This is the first pro-style combine of its kind, where we’ll film all the events and edit it for every athlete who comes here for instruction,” added Cavale.

With the combine’s fee ($199), every participant will be given a FREE Eporro.com profile. On-site professionals and video editors will help the athletes set up profiles on Eporro.com, along with editing and loading the video from all training sessions for use on each player’s file. Athletes can even submit game highlights to staff for their profile for inclusion on the recruit’s page.

Spaces are limited, and athletes are encouraged to sign up immediately to get your preferred combine dates. You can sign via a link on the banner of our website, Eporro.com, or through the phone and email options listed below.

Each combine consists of both the training and workout days, and will be held on either consecutive Fridays or Saturdays, depending on group assignments. Every participant will receive an Eporro.com dry-fit workout shirt, and prize packs will be given away by Hibbett Sports for top scores in various drills. Please see the information below to secure your spot today! Also attached is the brochure for the event, complete with a mail-in sheet to lock down a position at one of the two July combines. Eporro.com’s Ferdie Miller Uses Profile To Land College Opportunity

By Eric SanInocencio, Director of Public Relations
6/10/2009

Birmingham, Ala. – Two years ago, Quinterrius “Ferdie” Miller was a little used 10th grade fullback, a player lost in the shadows behind a plethora of running backs at Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Ala. Now, through his hard work and the promotional tools of Eporro.com, Miller will take his game to the collegiate level, enrolling at West Alabama to compete for playing time under legendary Coach Bobby Wallace.

“As a 10th grader, he didn’t get the ball much, but when he did he had lots of production,” said Brian Miller, Quinterrius’ father. “I would always give him articles on some of the running backs, like Barry Sanders, who didn’t play until their senior year,” added Miller. “We just thought if he got an opportunity to show what he could do, we thought he could play.”

A small school player, Miller and his father saw firsthand the challenges of getting college coaches out to recruit him. The 5-foot-10, 190 pound Miller also transformed his game during his final two high school seasons, going from an unused fullback to a feature player in a prolific offensive system. Miller increased his speed and power, and now benches 400 pounds and runs the 40 yard dash in 4.5 seconds. Still, the offers weren’t pouring in like he or his family had hoped.

“He wasn’t getting any help, as far as somebody speaking and talking with him,” commented Miller. “It’s hard getting notoriety at small schools, they don’t seem to get in the recruiting magazines or get a push for coaches to contact kids and in turn they miss lots of talent.”

While facing those realities of recruiting, Miller turned to Eporro.com, which put the family in the driver’s seat when it came to Ferdie’s role in the process. Miller created a full profile, complete with athletic and scholastic achievements. Included in that database was a full-length video highlight film, capturing Miller’s stellar success on the gridiron.

From there, Eporro.com did the legwork, with Miller and his family using the site to send out his profile to various programs at the Division II level. The hard work paid off, with Miller’s online resume getting noticed by the Gulf South Conference power West Alabama. Coach Wallace saw enough talent in the standout that he invited Miller to campus to compete for the Tigers in 2010.

“I think that’s a big asset of Eporro.com,” said Miller. “Kids can let Eporro.com sell them and it can really work in favor of those kids. I know it worked out great for Ferdie.”

EPORRO.COM RECRUIT DJ HOWARD CHOSEN TO PLAY IN UNDER ARMOUR ALL-AMERICAN GAME

By Eric SanInocencio, Director of Public Relations

Lincoln, Ala. – Eporro.com client and Lincoln High School star running back DJ Howard has been chosen to play in the Under Armour All-American game to be played in January of 2010. The talented back is also a state champion track star, and runs his 40-yard dash in 4.3 seconds.

In an exclusive interview with Eporro.com, Howard shared his thoughts on using the website to help in his recruiting process.  "Being in a small town, you don’t get a lot of attention," said Howard. "As far as I can remember, playing college football has been a dream of mine."

The Lincoln high product has been mentioned in several recruiting publications as one of the top prospects in the state of Alabama, and has been scouted by schools all across the Southeast.

He has currently narrowed the field to three institutions, citing playing time and proximity to home as the most important factors. "Playing time and being close to home are the most important things, put probably playing time is the most important thing," said Howard.

An Eporro.com client since January of this year, Howard is pleased with the site ability to promote himself to college coaches. "I signed up (with Eporro.com) in January and I like anything like this that helps get your name out there and coaches to look at you," commented Howard.

Another Lincoln High product, Jonathan George, used Eporro.com to land a football scholarship with the University of Kentucky this fall, something that hits close to home for Howard as he begins his senior season on the gridiron. "It motivates you (George’s signing). Jonathan (George) and I are cousins, so seeing him sign and have success makes you work that much harder because you know that’s possible."

With a big final year on tap for Howard, he offers this advice to the youth who are hoping to one day reach the dreams of a collegiate scholarship. "I would say to keep you head up and work hard," added Howard. "Listen to your coaches and listen to advice because every little thing helps. Good advice can always help, and you are never too good to learn."
