Eporro.com Recruit Greg Paulus Returns To The Gridiron
By Eric SanInocencio, Director of Public Relations5/14/2009
Birmingham, Ala. – Former All-ACC Duke point guard and 2004-05 Gatorade High School National football Player of the Year Greg Paulus already has a profile on Eporro.com featuring highlights from his 2004 championship run as quarterback at Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, New York. That CBA squad defeated current Baltimore Ravens star Ray Rice and New Rochelle High School to claim a state championship for the Brothers
But now Paulus has set his sights on spending a fifth year of eligibility in his hometown as the signal caller at Syracuse University.
The former floor general for national powerhouse Duke was also a highly regarded prospect on the gridiron, and his Eporro.com highlight package illustrates the ability that had him labeled in a “Drew Brees/Joe Montana” mold as a signal caller.
Coach Joe Casamento, who guided Paulus at Christian Brothers, feels like the talented athlete can compete at the highest level for the Orange. “Greg is a perfect candidate to run the offense that Coach Doug Marrone (Syracuse head coach) and his staff are implanting this year at Syracuse.”
Doug Marrone comes from a highly successful run as the offensive coordinator for Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints, compiling some of the best offensive numbers in the National Football League during the past decade.
“Initially, Greg’s strengths will be in the classroom, where he’ll catch on very quick due to his intelligence and background running the spread offense. In the long run, his biggest hurdles will be timing and getting back into football shape along with getting on the same page as his teammates.”
Paulus attended high school with Eporro.com President Jim Cavale, who saw first hand the fantastic ability possessed by the 6-2 signal caller. "We are happy that Eporro.com has been able to showcase Greg’s tremendous abilities. No matter what the sport, he’s a great leader and that will be evident in the upcoming season at Syracuse."
Paulus is set to make appearances on several different mediums to talk about his incredible opportunity to return to the gridiron at Syracuse. Amongst his media appearances, will be a Friday morning radio interview with Lance Taylor on The Roundtable, a show airing throughout Alabama on ESPN affiliate WJOX out of Birmingham.
